Over 20 years ago, I immigrated to Canada and settled in Quebec. Like many immigrants here, I became fluent in French—essential for thriving in this francophone province. However, I discovered something troubling: after years of working and studying exclusively in French, many of us were losing our English proficiency, even if we had spoken it well a decade earlier. It's natural to lose a language without practice, but this created a significant barrier.
